A new photovoltaic power station -- also known as a solar park -- in Shiguai district, Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was successfully connected to the national grid on Dec 27, according to the Baotou Daily.
The solar park marked the first clean energy project completed in Shiguai district, as well as the largest photovoltaic power station in underground mining areas in Baotou.
The project cost 4.3 billion yuan ($616 million). Local officials said solar park will generate up to 900 million kilowatt hours of power annually, with an annual output value of 500 million yuan and an annual taxes of 53 million yuan.
The project was approved by the National Energy Administration in 2016. Construction work on the project began in January, 2017.
